WebA group of 20 Milwaukee police officers between the ages of 21 and 65 volunteered for the study, were trained to use techniques to manage emotional and physical responses to stress, and practiced self-regulation of responses using biofeedback techniques including regulated breathing exercises. WebOn duty, police officers are exposed to a variety of acute, threatening stress situations and organizational demands. In line with the allostatic load model, the resulting acute and chronic stress might have tremendous consequences for police officers' work performance and psychological and physical health.
